The RGD Committees seek new Members

RGD Committees support the development and implementation of RGD programs, events and initiatives according to the strategic goals set by out by the RGD’s Board. Committees provide Members opportunities to contribute, connect with other designers, develop new skills and advance the professions. If you’re interested, we invite you to apply here.

Each Committee consists of Members from all across Canada and is overseen by two RGD Board Members. Committee Members are expected to attend one 60-to-90-minute virtual meeting each month and contribute 2—4 hours per week to RGD-related initiatives, which are typically assigned through subcommittees.

If you are interested in joining any of the following Committees, complete this application form. You will then be matched up with a Committee or put on a waiting list for when an opportunity becomes available.

Certification Committee

(Only for Certified RGDs)

“If you're interested in shaping the process of designers becoming Certified RGDs, then the Certification Committee is the place for you. Together, the Certification Committee works to continually evolve the RGD Certification process through a variety of touchpoints like reviewing exam questions, matching applicants with their ideal mentors, finding speakers for the Freshly Certified webinar series, and more. If you're considering becoming an RGD volunteer, I'd definitely recommend the Certification Committee.”

Design Committee

“Being a part of an RGD Committee can be incredibly rewarding. For many, it opens unexpected doors, pushes you to learn new skills and gives you an opportunity to make new connections. The entire industry benefits from the collective expertise of our volunteer network—but as volunteers, we benefit too.”
Nicola Hamilton RGD
“Volunteering is always fulfilling, but selfishly, it’s also a way to next-level your networking. As a young designer, volunteering with the RGD allowed me to get in the same room as veterans of the industry without the limitations of the junior/senior structure. If you help out on an RGD Committee, you’re there with your peers—as equals—and it’s a great way to make lasting connections.”
Julian Brown RGD

Diversity & Inclusion Committee

“Someone told me when I joined the RGD that you get out what you put into it. I joined the Diversity and Inclusion Committee because I wanted to make a positive contribution to the profession on something that I feel very passionate about. In the process, I have met some great people who, like me, care about making Canadian graphic design more accessible and inclusive. And little by little, we're making a difference and that's a great feeling.”
Chris Dickert RGD

Education Committee

“I’ve found that joining a Committee (and now chairing the RGD’s Education Committee) has connected me to new people in ways that wouldn’t have happened naturally. I often think about a good friend who once told me that “networking is simply making friends as an adult,”… but networking has never been my cup of tea (more accurately, it scares the life out of me!). Joining a Committee within the RGD has proven to be a delightful alternative to traditional networking and offered a place where I’ve definitely made friends as an adult. I’ll be forever grateful to the RGD for building this community of designers and design-adjacent folks, giving us all a third space to connect.”
Diana Varma RGD

Events Committee

“Being on the RGD Events Committee is more than just planning events; it’s about building connections and creating a welcoming community. Together, we can inspire one another, share our passions and make a real impact. Joining a Committee is a rewarding way to make a real impact. It’s an opportunity to collaborate with passionate individuals, share your ideas and help shape the direction of our industry. Together, we can create positive change and build lasting connections!””
Alexandra Vranjesevic RGD

Membership Committee

“Volunteering on a Committee not only connects you with other RGD Members but also allows you to make a huge difference. You see first-hand how new initiatives take shape, how amazing the RGD staff are, and how they rely on volunteers to constantly improve this valuable organization. You're part of a collective that works together to make the RGD Membership more valuable. Meet some fantastic people, have fun, improve things, and encourage new Members to join!”
Ruth Farrugia RGD
