Jennica Robinson
My name is Jennica Robinson, an Anishinaabe Kwe and a member of Aundeck Omni Kaning First Nation on Manitoulin Island. I’m a Design Lead at Design de Plume, an Indigenous and women-led design firm focused on inclusive, accessible, and culturally relevant design solutions. My work amplifies the voices and stories of underrepresented communities, particularly Indigenous groups across Turtle Island. With each project, I aim to create awareness and respect for Indigenous traditions, designing with clients to honour their cultural narratives. Beyond the office, I mentor and support design initiatives that promote accessibility and inclusivity.

I know a lot about...
“Working with Indigenous communities and respecting Indigenous protocols where I prioritize cultural sensitivity and traditions. I create designs that honour, protect, and celebrate Indigenous culture while ensuring each project reflects the unique narratives and values of the communities I work with.”
I'm thinking a lot about...
“Cultural preservation and that design can serve as a medium for storytelling and sharing Indigenous knowledge. By blending Western design with Indigenous ways of knowing, I aim to create bridges between the past and present, creating a deeper understanding and connection that resonates with everyone.”
My favourite RGD memory is..
“Attending Design Thinkers over the past 12 years has been incredibly impactful, particularly the 2023 conference. It stood out by emphasizing the importance of collaboration between designers and Indigenous communities in Canada. The resonance of their stories and the innovative design solutions presented truly inspired me.”
