Culture Shock — Designing with Purpose: Highlighting Engagement with Societal Issues
virtual Thursday February 05, 2026 @ 2:00 p.m. ETA brief overview of Armando Testa, the restless voyager of the image, and its artistic legacy to emphasize his remarkable insights as a painter, sculptor, designer, and creator, capturing the essence of his creativity in a unique synthesis.
His search for originality led him to bounce from one technique to another in order to explore all paths of visual communication.
Testa's influential advertising campaigns and logos for major companies, as well as his innovative TV animations from the 1950s and 1960s, shaped the history of advertising and international culture. It also highlights his engagement with social issues, showcasing campaigns for organizations such as Amnesty International, as well as initiatives aimed at combating poverty and hunger.
The presentation will delineate how Armando’s engagement with social issues and initiative against poverty and hunger have reshaped the history of advertising and international culture. When designers create with purpose, they use their skills to raise awareness, inspire change, and promote inclusivity. Whether it’s graphic design, product design, or architecture, thoughtful choices can amplify voices that often go unheard.
