Eligibility and application details
Regular eligibility
Seven years of education and/or relevant work experience (can include two to four year post-secondary diploma or degree in graphic design or related field).
Seniority exemption
If you have 15 years of education and/or relevant work experience (can include a maximum of seven years of education), you are exempt from three out of the five sections of the Online Test. Only the Ethics and Accessibility sections must be successfully completed.
Educators
For design educators, there is an alternative process with a different application, different requirements for case studies and a different evaluation criteria. For details.

Submitting your application and next steps
Application review
Once your application is received, it will be reviewed by members of our Eligibility Review Committee to determine if you fall under the Regular Eligibility or the Seniority Exemption. You will be informed within one week of your eligibility.
Fee
Eligible applicants are required to pay an admin fee of $150 CAD (seniority) or $250 (regular) plus applicable taxes; FREE for Provisional RGDs and Affiliate Members of RGD.
Next steps
We will then work with you to schedule sessions for your Online Test and Portfolio Presentation. The entire process can take as little as two weeks from application to RGD membership, but you can take up to six months after applying to go through the process.
