About this video

Description

Blair brings design education out of the classroom and into an open forum for dialogue, reflection and learning. This session is a fireside-style conversation with current students and recent graduates, exploring what teaching methods resonate, where gaps exist, and how educators can adapt to better support learners. Attendees will hear firsthand insights into what works in today’s design programs and discover strategies for making course material more engaging, accessible and responsive. Through facilitated discussion, Blair encourages educators to listen, reflect and share, uncovering blind spots and uncovering new ideas for teaching. This session offers a unique opportunity to learn directly from students and peers, inspiring approaches that foster meaningful learning experiences, stronger engagement and continual growth in design education.

Trajectory Brands Inc.

I'm currently the Senior Designer at Trajectory Brand Inc. Prior to that I successfully ran my own business, BFdesign. My experience spans identity systems, digital and web applications, publications, marketing programs, interactive presentations and environmental applications for not-for-profits, arts & culture, education and place-based clients. In 2012, I graduated with Distinction from Goldsmiths, University of London with a Masters of Arts (Design: Critical Practice). The program allowed me to explore my love of civic engagement and city-building through the intersection of design. The experience, along with volunteering my time at the Ministry of Stories in London, led me to co-found Department of Imaginary Affairs in Toronto, a not-for-profit focused on civic engagement programs for youth and newcomers. I have also been a Part-time Professor at George Brown College’s School of Design teaching in both the Brand Design (Honours Bachelor) and Graphic Design (Advanced Diploma) programs since 2021.
