virtual Thursday September 24 @ 8 p.m. ETFinding Work in a Slow Market: A 4-Part Webinar Series
The job market is ruff. And if you've spent any time searching for design work lately, you already know that.
Between shifting hiring practices, increasingly competitive applicant pools and the challenge of standing out in a digital-first recruitment landscape, finding your next role can feel overwhelming, especially for younger designers still building their portfolios and professional networks.
This four-part series brings together designers who've recently navigated the job hunt and come out the other side. No sugarcoating, just honest conversations about what it really takes to land work in today's environment.
What to expect:
Our panelists will share their experiences, including the unexpected hurdles and the strategies that actually moved the needle. You'll hear about the emotional side of job hunting too, how to stay motivated when the process drags and keep your confidence intact through rejection and radio silence.
Whether you're entering the workforce for the first time, a designer between roles or someone feeling stuck in a slow market, this series offers practical guidance and genuine encouragement from people who truly understand what you're going through.
Your next opportunity is out there. Let's find it together.
This Session – All Killer, No Filler: Aligning your brand with who you’re becoming
When competition is as stiff as ever, what actually sets you apart is clarity: knowing who you are, defining your goals, and showing up with thoughtful, consistent channel presence.
Most creatives don’t audit this nearly as often as they should. The bio doesn't match the work, the portfolio is full of projects you'd rather not repeat, and the whole picture describes where you are, not where you’re headed.
This session asks you to look hard at what you're presenting and answer an honest question: does it reflect who you are now, or who you want to be? Detail nerds Mairin Deery, Elyssa Biringer, and Amelia Nash will walk you through their perspectives on defining your positioning and building a presence that is consistent, specific, and unmistakably yours.
What we'll cover:
Position.
Solo, agency, or creator. Do you combine your passions or keep your focus areas separate? Some tricks to deciding who you want to be and where you want to go (next).
Curate.
Consistency builds recognition. We’ll work through aligning your voice, visuals, and tone across every touchpoint, and being deliberate about the work you actually want more of.
Build.
Materials that speak the language of the work you want next, how you show strategy versus execution, and simple ways to track where your presence is landing.
Bring your questions. We'll leave plenty of room for them.
