Dancemakers
Integrated Award — Rebrand/Refresh

Co-Effect Creative
Toronto, Ontario, Canada

For 50 years, Dancemakers has been a prominent presence in contemporary dance, but the organization’s evolving approach and pluralistic curatorial model called for a brand that truly reflected who they had become. They needed a visual identity that could capture their bold, inclusive and experimental spirit.

Co-Effect partnered with Dancemakers to guide this transformation. Through engagement with artists, board members and community stakeholders, the team shaped a brand that embodies energy, movement and plurality. Letterforms stretch and warp in a custom typographic system, reflecting transformation, while a vibrant colour palette draws on grassroots arts communities. Flexible templates ensure the identity works across performances, curatorial projects and digital or print platforms.
The refreshed brand, paired with a new website, amplifies storytelling, highlights multiple perspectives and invites audiences to experience dance in fresh ways. The new identity positions Dancemakers as a bold, community-driven hub for contemporary dance, bringing together diverse voices, ideas and approaches in every performance.
