NuBody — The Future Of Digital Bodies

Galit Ariel

About this video

Description

Join Galit Ariel to unpack the good, the bad and the weird of our new hybrid selves and explore ideas such around The Plugged Body, New Body Imaginaries and Designing for Hybrid Bodies. How do immersive technologies like Augmented and Virtual Reality change how we perceive the world around us, and ourselves? The depth with which technology has infused society has led us to a point where computers have the computational power to immerse us in fantastic virtual worlds and blend digital things and beings (!) into our physical spaces. These digitally-mediated spaces and stories are causing significant shifts in the global cultural mindset around our sense of self, and what it means to be in the world.

Galit will unpack and explore ideas around:
- The Plugged Body: How emerging technologies change the relationship between nature and culture
- New Body Imaginaries: The reality of and challenges with creating disembodied versions of ourselves
- Designing for Hybrid Bodies: How our new hybrid-body interactions change the way we perceive the world, design for it, and engage with.
