Ying Chang

Growing up in Taiwan, Ying was deeply influenced by her mother, a calligrapher, and her father, a painter. Ying followed in her parents' footsteps and attended the National Taiwan University of Arts. After earning her bachelor degree in Visual Communication Design, she bought a one-way ticket to New York City to further her study at the Pratt Institute— finishing with a master degree in Communication Design. After taking her first calligraphy class, Ying was inspired to dive deeper at the Type@Cooper Extended Typeface Design Program where her true passion for lettering came into focus. Since then, she can't seem to put her pencil down and has been creating logotypes and lettering works for different brands, publications and self-initiated projects. Her lettering works have been recognized and published by a variety of organizations while she continues to contribute her design skill to the world of advertising where she has produced award-winning campaigns.
