Channel 13 creates immersive, story-led website for Cabot Cape Breton

Written by Mike Gioffre, Channel 13

Context

Cabot is a global brand known for its portfolio of golf resorts and residential communities. Their flagship property, Cabot Cape Breton, located on the scenic coastline of Nova Scotia, represents the birthplace of the brand’s global vision. Channel 13’s relationship with Cabot began with the website design of Cabot Saint Lucia, their Caribbean property. That collaboration laid the foundation for a deeper partnership—leading to a bold reimagining of Cabot Cape Breton’s online presence. With the brand expanding internationally, the goal was to establish a cinematic, content-driven web standard that could elevate the Cabot experience while setting the tone for future global properties.

Methodology

Channel 13 approached the project with a focus on captivating content, leveraging a library of cinematic photography and video to capture the essence of Cabot Cape Breton. While working with Cabot’s existing logo and typographic system, we introduced a refreshed visual language tailored specifically to the digital space. The goal was to elevate brand perception—positioning Cabot not just as a golf destination, but as a world-class, bucket-list resort experience. The resulting site balances elevated aesthetics with intuitive usability, creating an experience that is both aspirational and accessible.

Process

The project began with a strategic discovery phase that included an audit of Cabot’s existing digital content and collaboration with internal stakeholders and digital partners. We developed wireframes and prototypes to define key user flows and ensure the design system would scale across future property websites. Once approved, we moved into full web design, followed by development, ensuring a seamless transition from concept to execution and laying the foundation for what is now a modular digital platform used across six of Cabot’s properties.

Results

The Cabot Cape Breton site not only set a new benchmark for the brand’s digital presence but also established a framework for consistent execution across all current and future properties. The outcome has driven real business growth and has been embraced by leaders in the golf and hospitality industries. Operationally, it has enabled the efficient rollout of new property sites, supporting Cabot’s global expansion strategy. Creatively, the project has received international acclaim, including a 2025 Webby Award nomination for Best Visual Design – Functionality, placing Channel 13 and Cabot among the top 5 finalists out of more than 13,000 global submissions.
