The RGD launches web version of our Accessability Guidelines
The RGD has introduced a new digital resource to support accessible and inclusive design across Canada and beyond.
Evolving from AccessAbility 2: A Practical Handbook on Accessible Graphic Design, this site brings updated guidelines to life in a modern, interactive and easy-to-navigate format.
Developed in partnership with Mangrove Web, the site is built to meet WCAG 2.2 Level AA standards, modelling the very principles it promotes. Its purpose is simple: to make best practices in accessible design widely available—and truly accessible—to everyone.
“The Accessibility website is a fantastic resource that will be as indispensable to my practice as its successor, the Accessibility 2 handbook. It is a great example of how RGD continues to prioritize the designers' and their audiences' needs.”
Michelle Hopgood RGD
The site offers guidance for designers, educators and organizations, with practical considerations for accessibility across digital, print and environmental media. It explores:
- How to design for people of varying abilities
- How accessibility informs everyday design decisions
- Why designing for “outliers” and “edge cases” benefits all users
The site will be continuously updated with new case studies, resources and expanded information. industry professionals and companies are invited to submit case studies and resources for addition to the site. If you are interested in submitting an article or have thoughts on any of the content included on the site, email vanshika@rgd.ca.
