Brian Banton RGD

Brian is a multidisciplinary designer originally from Toronto. With a Master’s degree in design and over 18 years of experience, he has worked across brand, product, and motion design for both commercial and non-profit clients. His career includes roles at SAP as a Creative Director, Oculus VR at Meta Reality Labs in California, frog Design’s Brooklyn office as a Principal Designer, and Pentagram NYC as a Senior Designer. Brian’s work blends strategy, technology, and storytelling to create thoughtful, human-centered experiences. Early in his career, he designed award-winning books, identity systems, and motion graphics for cultural institutions before relocating to New York. In addition to practice, Brian has taught design at York University, George Brown College, and Humber College, mentoring the next generation of creatives.

Music to your Eyes

Wade & Leta, the NYC-based design duo known for their exuberant aesthetic, invited us to collaborate on Music to Your Eyes. Our role was to extend this fantastical world into virtual space — crafting a VR experience that could deepen the resonance of the exhibition and offer a new way for audiences to engage with their universe of “visual music.”

Heterosis—A Kinetic Typeface

Each character in this kinetic typeface was designed by 'blending' two (essentially 1 dimensional) vector lines across a spatial plane in order to produce a 3 dimensional letter. The result is a set of characters that holds more possibilities than the standard 2 dimensional alphabets to which we are accustomed.
