Working under the direction of the Design Manager, the Senior Exhibition Designer develops and implements innovative two and three-dimensional design for Temporary exhibitions, Permanent Collection galleries, special installations and art in public spaces (interior, exterior), both onsite and offsite. Responsible for conceiving and presenting appropriate and engaging exhibit proposals, as well as complete design development, from concept through detailing, prototyping, fabrication and installation, the Senior Exhibition Designer ensures that exhibit topics are presented in a compelling and visitor-centric manner.
Job responsibilities
The Senior Exhibition Designer contributes to project planning by providing design concepts, project schedules, cost estimates and detailed technical drawings, as well as sourcing for fabrication and supplies. The Senior Exhibition Designer is also responsible for overseeing their projects through all phases, including participating in quality control, monitoring production with the shop and artists, being present during installation to provide design direction and coordinating with service providers
Qualifications
- Post-secondary degree in Scenography or Graphic Design or Architecture or Industrial Design from an accredited institution or an equivalent combination of education and experience;
- Minimum 5 years in exhibition design for museums or art galleries or equivalent combination of education and experience;
- Strong skills in the development of exhibit design from concept through installation;
- Ability to synthesize complex criteria into a coherent result, focused on developing and translating concepts into high quality audience experiences;
- Experience working multi-disciplinary project teams;
- Extensive experience space planning, creating 3D mock-ups and art plans;
- Extensive experience designing and managing fabrication of high-end case and mill work for museums or galleries;
- Knowledge and understanding of construction/fabrication practices, trades, building materials, code compliance, ADA accessibility guidelines and engineering;
- Attention to detail in all phases of a project;
- Comprehensive knowledge of Macintosh and Cloud environments;
- Advanced knowledge in Vectorwork (CAD and 3D), Sketchup (3D) Adobe Suite (Illustrator, InDesign and Photoshop), Microsoft Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
- Must meet the bilingual requirement to be invited to the interview process.
Salary range
$83,805 - $98,554 /Year
