Award for Colour

Award Sponsor: Studio Locale

Creo Toys product packaging

Winner: Anais Bayle

Winning Project: Creo Toys

School: Capilano University, North Vancouver, BC; Educator Support: Shayne Letain, Gae Wakabayashi

This project addresses how society assigns different toys to boys and girls, leading to differences in their learning and development from as young as 2–3 years old. Creo tackles these disparities by combining physical and educational attributes typically associated with either gender. Its branding showcases a balanced approach, using a nutritional metaphor to highlight the skills developed through play. The visual identity features fun typography and vibrant colours, effectively communicating the importance of a balanced toy box for healthy development.

“I was thrilled to review some fantastic graphic design work with wonderfully playful solutions where colour played a central role. This year’s Student Awards entries show just how effective and engaging colour can be!”
