Starting off on the right foot: Research, Brainstorming and Ideation by Raj Sidhu, Neal Halverson RGD and Dianne Semark

About this video

Description

The beginning stages of the design process are sometimes undervalued and misunderstood in-house. Through three presentations, this webinar explores processes and techniques for understanding the design problem before jumping into the design solution.

Brainstorming in a Remote Workplacepresented by Raj Sidhu
How working apart can help bring some of our best ideas together. This presentation looks at how traditional brainstorming sessions were not getting the best ideas from Raj and his team and how the pandemic helped push them to evolve the way they worked together.

About Raj Sidhu
Raj leads design across brand, marketing and product at Vidyard, a platform that helps companies create, share, and track their video content. This includes managing an internal team of visual designers, product designers and illustrators. Raj was formally trained as a graphic designer with past experience developing award-winning creative strategy and execution in branding, web, and package design. With over 15 years of experience, he now uses his learnings to help drive business results with design.

Working with customer insights and the competition: Integrating technology for capturing, analyzing and innovating by Neal Halverson
New online services and software for collecting customer research, for competitive intelligence and for whiteboarding solutions are helpful for Design Thinking, but how can an organization bring all the insights from each provider together to harness the information complexity that is necessary to construct breakthrough solutions? This presentation will show how in-house creative teams can bring high-quality research to the remote research and design process using an online constellation of three key innovations.

About Neal Halverson RGD
Neal received his Bachelor of Design from York University/Sheridan College and has practiced design at creative agencies, as an in-house designer, and is presently at Armstrong Fluid Technology as a Corporate Identity Specialist. Armstrong is a design and engineering company, where Neal contributed an expansive programme of design standards and brand management, implemented in print, digital, industrial and experience design. He co-developed a new-to-the industry touch screen for digital pumping solutions that brought a patent to the company, as well as industrial design awards from the industry. Neal's education was furthered at Ryerson University in Design Management, and culminated with OCAD University Strategic Foresight and Innovation program. Neal continues to be fascinated with all aspects of design, building on an escalating skillset of strategic thinking, systems thinking, and foresight leadership learned in the masters program.
