  • Student award entries must adhere to Canadian copyright and intellectual property laws that respect the rights of other creatives, designers, writers and authors of original works. If any part of your final submission includes text or visuals produced by AI or another writer, designer, artist or creative, it must be cited on the submission form.

Uses of Artificial Intelligence (AI) for Student Award Submissions)

  • AI is a broad term that includes many different applications and software, platforms, tools and methods and resources that may be used in the ideation, production and execution of design projects and the RGD acknowledges that designers must understand new technologies while being critical of their applications in design practices.
  • AI should not be used to write your design rationales for award submissions. Rationales articulate your unique reflections for design decisions and critical thinking in the development and creative choices for projects. AI may be used to assist you in the proofreading process such as to check spelling and grammar.
