Internship Best Practice Guidelines

pdf

The primary purpose of an internship is the education and training of the intern. It provides professional work experience to someone who is either in school, recently graduated or in some way lacking and in need of professional work experience in a specific field or environment, for example someone working in a new city for the first time. Internships help emerging designers develop confidence and judgment as they gain practical experience.

The Association of Registered Graphic Designers (RGD) recognizes that internships contribute to RGD’s ongoing efforts to raise professional standards, but there are best practices for this to be achieved.
