Tony Hird RGD

Tony Hird is a multidisciplinary designer, art and creative director based in Vancouver, Canada. Speaking three languages, his ideas and art direction transcend cultural barriers. With experience across national, regional, and local brands in diverse categories, Tony brings a wealth of knowledge to every project. He’s passionate about using creativity to help brands engage with consumers on a personal level—whether through storytelling, design, or the overall experience they offer. When a brand resonates, it cuts through the noise and leaves a lasting impression. For him, brand expressions should be purposeful, impactful, and, above all, human. A graduate of the Alberta University of the Arts and the School of Visual Arts in NYC (Silas H. Rhodes scholarship), he has worked with top agencies like Rethink, BBDO, TAXI, and lululemon’s in-house brand team. In 2017, Tony co-founded Here Be Monsters, where his creative leadership earned the agency three nominations for Strategy Magazine’s Small Agency of the Year and multiple design and advertising awards. His work has been recognized by Communication Arts, The One Show, Art Directors Club, The Ad and Design Club of Canada, The Marketing Awards, Applied Arts, and the RGD Branding Awards. Tony has also served as a judge for prestigious award shows including Communication Arts Typography (2025), The Marketing Awards, Applied Arts, Concours Créa, Carte Blanche, and the RGD student awards. With over 20 years of experience, Tony has delivered transformative work for brands like Bell, Solo Mobile, Telus, Sirius, A&W, Coast Capital Savings, RBC, Molson, Volkswagen, Smart Car, Ford, CN, BC Hydro, Milk producers of Québec, Frito Lay, Vancouver Aquarium and Nature’s Fare Markets. As a Certified Member of the Association of Registered Graphic Designers (RGD), Tony is committed to upholding the highest standards of professional practice and design excellence. Outside of work, he takes creative direction from his two children and loves to recharge by exploring the stunning BC nature.
