Deja van Alphen Student RGD
Deja van Alphen is a bold and curious creative whose approach to design is rooted in research, psychology, and storytelling. Often described as a “Human Wikipedia,” she brings a multidisciplinary perspective to every project, drawing from colour psychology, history, behavioural analysis, and data-driven insights to create designs with depth, purpose, and impact.
Before becoming a graphic designer, Deja earned a Bachelor’s degree in World History with studies in Human Rights, Human Diversity, and Philosophy. This academic foundation shaped her greatest strength: research. Whether exploring a brand, audience, or concept, she believes meaningful design begins with understanding people. Her process goes beyond aesthetics, uncovering the stories, emotions, and motivations that help audiences connect with a visual experience.
As a designer, Deja is passionate about helping others share their messages, ideas, and dreams with the world. Through thoughtful design, she creates work that not only communicates but resonates. She is also the host of the graphic design podcast DesignTea, where she explores creativity, design, and the stories behind the work.

I know a lot about...
“a lot. I am a living wikipedia and a fountain of "useless" information. I can tell you who is the highest exporter of hazelnuts is, how koalas destroy crime scenes, who has the oldest national anthem in the world, and more.”
The best advice I've ever received is...
“Honestly, STOP WAITING! Just do it! Step right in, post that thing, jog that block, talk to that potential client on the street, be that boss!”
