As a Graphic Designer within our Creative Services & Events Department, you will be responsible for creative ideation and providing multi-disciplinary design skills, art direction, brand development and information/data interpretation for visual representation. They provide user experience (UX) and marketing knowledge to create multimedia assets that serve diverse audiences: internal members, the community, local, provincial and federal elected officials, and the police sector. They are responsible for leading the creative process, maintain Logo/Brand Identity Standards, policies, procedures and provide subject matter expertise to the Service on best practices for design and brand standards.

Job responsibilities

What will your typical day look like?

Develops and executes strategic design concepts and visual communications aligned with organizational priorities and the Strategic Plan. Produces a wide range of deliverables across print, digital, environmental, broadcast, and experiential platforms, including large-scale, multi-faceted campaigns.

Collaborates with subject-matter experts, cross-functional teams, senior leadership, the Chief’s Management Group, and external partners to deliver high-priority projects, executive reports and presentations, conferences, and major external initiatives.

Provides design consultation to stakeholders at all levels, conducting research and environmental scans to accurately interpret objectives, context, and public perception.

Applies industry best practices, design principles, accessibility standards, UX, and data visualization techniques to translate complex information into clear, compelling visual storytelling.

Leads visual strategy for executive and live presentations delivered to diverse audiences, including community members and municipal, provincial, and federal officials.

Ensures brand consistency and quality assurance across all design outputs; maintains and evolves corporate identity standards and visual systems; provides art direction and brand guidance to internal teams and external partners.

Manages relationships with external vendors, including sourcing, negotiating timelines, overseeing quality, and maintaining or recommending service agreements.

Exercises critical thinking, discretion, and confidentiality when handling sensitive information and materials.

Educates stakeholders on visual communication best practices and emerging design standards.

Performs additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

You are someone with:

  • A three year Community College Diploma in Graphic Design or equivalent, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Registered Graphic Designer (RGD) or Graphic Designer of Canada (GDC) certification preferred.
  • A minimum of three years of experience in Graphic Design is required.
  • MS Word-Advanced
  • MS Excel-Advanced
  • MS PowerPoint-Advanced
  • MS Outlook
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Desktop Publishing/Page Layout skills in a MAC environment.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Adobe In-Design, Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Photoshop.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of online best practices and Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) compliance/remediation.
  • Effective oral communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent time management and project co-ordination skills.
  • Demonstrated written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated organizational skills.

Salary range

The hourly range for this temporary, full-time position is $35.28 - $55.33.

Additional information

Peel Regional Police offers a highly competitive compensation package; applicants will be considered for the top end of the range $48.42 - $55.33 based on experience. The wage is complemented with enrollment in the OMERS Pension Plan effective upon hire.
