Role
As the RGD’s Events Coordinator, you'll play a pivotal role in inspiring, informing and connecting Canada’s design community through our exceptional in-person and virtual events. This is a full-time, remote position with the opportunity to work out of a Toronto office as desired. Travel (expenses covered) to our Vancouver and Toronto conferences and potentially other events will be required.
About us
The RGD is a non-profit, professional association representing more than 4,500 graphic design professionals, educators and students across Canada and beyond. The RGD brings designers together to exchange ideas, educate and inspire and build a strong, supportive community dedicated to advocating for the value of design. Our programs include our annual DesignThinkers Conferences which take place in Vancouver in the spring and Toronto in the fall, an extensive professional development program in the form of regular webinars, local events across the country and various other workshops and events.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate speakers and some logistical elements for the RGD’s DesignThinkers Conferences in Toronto (fall) and Vancouver (spring), In-House Conferences, Design Educator Conferences and other events.
- Coordinate the RGD’s ongoing webinar program, including researching and inviting speakers, scheduling, registration, etc.
- Collaborate with RGD staff and volunteers to research and recruit potential speakers for RGD conferences, events and webinars.
- Provide on-site speaker coordination and event logistics support for conferences and events.
- Conduct event post-mortems to gather feedback and provide insight into successes and learning opportunities.
- Respond promptly to both internal and external requests from attendees, speakers and other stakeholders.
- Support the RGD communications team to ensure timely communication and promotion of all conferences and events.
- Provide administrative support as required.
Qualifications
- Outstanding organizational skills: Ability to multi-task and coordinate multiple projects
- Outstanding interpersonal skills: Ability to build rapport with speakers and volunteers
- Excellent creative thinking and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work as part of a team or independently in a remote work environment
- Post-secondary education and/or experience in event management, nonprofit administration, communications or related fields preferred but not required
- Understanding of event tools including Zoom, Eventbrite and Pheedloop
Salary range
$40,000-$50,000 (including funding for professional development, Internet/phone, health & dental benefits)
