About the role
Canadian Blood Services seeks a temporary full-time Creative Lead to join our versatile Integrated Marketing team.
The Integrated Marketing team is responsible for developing and executing comprehensive, integrated marketing strategies aimed at building Canadian Blood Services’ brand, expanding our donor base and enhancing donor loyalty.
Reporting to the Associate Director of Brand Strategy, you will oversee the creative direction of all design and content. You will lead a team of graphic designers and writers and collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure the Canadian Blood Services brand identity is consistently represented across all channels. You will also be instrumental in developing systems and processes to optimize team performance and organizational efficiency. The ideal candidate is a skilled graphic designer, with a strong understanding of brand management and a proven ability to inspire and lead a creative team.

- Tapping into your leadership background, you will manage, mentor and inspire a team of designers, writers and other creative professionals, fostering a collaborative and high-performing environment.
- Utilizing your skills in project management, you will lead the planning and execution of creative shoots and oversee the selection, cataloging and maintenance of creative assets.
- Leveraging your expertise in creative direction and design evaluation, you will provide clear and constructive feedback during the creative process, ensuring all work meets the highest standards of quality and creativity.
- Capitalizing on your experience in relationship management, you will work closely with the brand team to ensure alignment with brand expectations, guidelines and feedback.
- Drawing on your excellent interpersonal skills, you will demonstrate leadership in living the brand and serve as a subject-matter expert in creative brand expression. You will guide all areas of the organization, external agencies and partners on the correct brand application.
Desired education and skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design or a related field.
- 7+ years of graphic design experience, with 3+ years within a creative leadership role.
- Experience of working within an in-house environment is essential, with agency experience considered an asset.
- Excellent communication, project management and organizational abilities.
- Confident client interfacing and excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present ideas clearly and persuasively.
- Skilled in analytical and creative problem-solving, handling multiple projects and prioritizing tasks.
- Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign), Microsoft Suite and other relevant design and project management tools.
- Highly developed team leadership and interpersonal skills are required, with a proven ability to build and manage professional relationships.

What you can expect
- This role will work in a hybrid environment, with the requirement to be onsite at a Canadian Blood Services location 40% of the time and 2 days of the week.
- You will work Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours per week, 7.5 hours per day.
- If you are located outside of Ottawa, you may be expected to travel to our head office at 1800 Alta Vista Dr for in-person team meetings when required.
- Travel requirements – travel will be required to attend shoots and project commitments.
Salary range
$78,895 - $92,638
