Contract Content Designer

REW - Vancouver, BC

  • Part Time
  • Intermediate
  • Hybrid

We are seeking a confident, experienced designer at REW, who knows content and loves layout to join our Studio team. In this role you will work on all of our content streams, including the second season of our original series — RealTours™. Your job will be to decide how we present these stories to the largest real estate audience in Western Canada.

The role

The role of content designer is to create the experience for our audiences across each channel. You will need to design and leverage templates to deliver a consistent but tailored experience for articles, video content, social media and newsletter content that results in high-quality assets to feed the publishing process. You will be expected to contribute directly to the creative process and help shape our content to be the best expression of our brand possible.

The job

Using the ingredients produced by the content and production teams, you will use Figma to create the layouts and assets needed to support our content streams and our publishing team.

Each piece of content (article, video, etc.), and all of its social and promotional assets, are conceived, created and approved in Figma and then exported for publishing. You will be required to select, find or create artwork that represents the content with clarity and captures the attention of our community. You will need to make layout decisions on-the-fly and adapt to less-than-ideal inputs (low-res imagery), changes (last-minute pricing) and challenges (terrible weather) consistent with a fast-paced, real-time media environment

Scope of work

The Studio produces between 5-8 articles per week, from simple resources to epic episode articles. On average, you will need to be able to handle —

  • 2-3 complex (layout, charts, graphs, multiple imagery selection)
  • 2-3 standard (layout, imagery, media, modules)
  • 4-5 simple (layout, imagery)

Each article will require social assets and newsletter artwork with some requiring ad unit and additional promotional assets in different sizes and formats (carousels, thumbnails, IG Stories, etc). Our anticipated weekly asset requirements include —

  • 30-50 social assets (across all channels)
  • 8-12 newsletter images
  • 3-5 video thumbnails (landscape and portrait)

Ideal candidate

We’re looking for someone who —

  • thrives on taking a brief and getting on with the work
  • will work with copywriters and the content team to brainstorm on content ideas
  • is resourceful and capable of finding compelling but appropriate artwork for articles, no matter the topic
  • can provide art direction and contribute to content (video and photography) briefs
  • is highly-skilled in Figma, able to bend components to your will to accelerate workflows
  • can be comfortable working with ClickUp for task & project management
  • is current on all of the latest standards and tricks of the trade when it comes to social, video and email content

Bonus skills that would really make you stand out —

  • Familiar-with and able to leverage AI as a part of your toolset
  • Storyboarding
  • Illustration & 3D modelling
  • Solid deck (presentation) design skills
  • Video editing & motion graphics
