IGNITE

IGNITE is an editorial project examining how the legacy of colonialism fuels imposter syndrome within Latin American identities. Created for Latino college and university students and the broader Latino community, the inaugural issue includes a magazine, a booklet and a poster series. The magazine connects imposter syndrome to colonial history, while the booklet asks what comes next, opening with the work of Brazilian philosopher Lélia Gonzalez. Newspaper stock and two serif typefaces link past and present. Black-and-white halftone imagery focused on the eyes, including the designer's own family photos, suggests an identity that blurs up close. A palette drawn from Latin American flags ties the system together, all packaged in an oversized matchbox that invites readers to burn the system down and build something new.
