Client: Mile End Chavurah

Mile End Chavurah is an inclusive, progressive Jewish community in Montréal that is reimagining what urban Jewish life can look like—committed to music, diversity, social justice and prayer. Community consultation and visual research led to a simple but powerful idea: a hand-drawn logo mark was the solution.

Each of the letters in the identity lean on and support one another, like a braid in a challah bread or like people connecting across seasons and generations. The colour palette is bright and cheerful without being treacly, and the letter “C” works as a new framing device, a connector, a building block and a nod to the city’s iconic 2- and 3-story housing. The result is a modular identity system that is as alive, questioning and spirited as the community it serves.
