Client: Childhood Cancer Canada
The national platform “Let’s Face the Unimaginable” for Childhood Cancer Canada twists the reflexive response, “I can’t imagine,” into a mobilizing rallying cry, urging Canadians to reckon with the reality of childhood cancer. This campaign cuts through category norms to show Canadians that only when we confront cancer can we conquer it. While the childhood health space is dominated by photography used to elicit sympathy or a false sense of hope, “Let’s Face the Unimaginable” subverts expectations with a restrained approach: stripping imagery away entirely.
The creative lets the language lead, posing stark scenarios and leaving the rest to the audience’s imagination. As a visual throughline, the team delved into medical imagery to create a system inspired by real CT and MRI scans. These gradient ‘hotspots’ subtly echo the devastating, clinical reality behind the words. The campaign sparked a national conversation around childhood cancer, earning coverage from major Canadian news outlets and nearly 50 million total impressions, drastically increasing awareness for the cause and driving urgency like never before.
