Client: Association of Canadian Publishers

Certified Canadian Publishers is a certification mark developed with the Association of Canadian Publishers to help readers and booksellers identify books from Canadian-owned independent publishers. As more audiences look for meaningful ways to shop Canadian, the program needed a clear and credible symbol that could champion the breadth of Canadian storytelling. The mark was designed for a uniquely small but important role: appearing on book covers, spines, back covers, copyright pages, bookstore tags and promotional materials. Its form balances references to Canada and books with the simplicity required of a highly legible certification seal.

Careful attention was given to scale, reproduction and visual restraint so the mark could sit alongside a wide range of cover designs without competing with them. The resulting identity was built to feel modern and timeless, with the authority to endure as an ongoing industry program. The final mark gives Canadian-owned independent publishers a shared symbol of recognition at the point of discovery and purchase. It makes the certification more visible across books and retail settings, helping readers connect their purchasing choices with Canadian publishing.
