The National Black Canadians Summit
Social Good Award

Six Cinquième
Montreal, Quebec, Canada

The National Black Canadians Summit is an annual three-day event organized by the Michaëlle Jean Foundation and presented by TD Bank Group. Bringing together over 1,200 Black Canadians from across the country, the Summit serves as a platform for dialogue, collaboration and collective action toward building a more equitable and inclusive society.

Hosted in Montreal for the first time for its 2025 edition, the Summit embraced art as a vehicle for social impact and youth engagement. To reflect this vision, the design team collaborated with multidisciplinary artist Franco Egalité, whose artwork Unreality of Time inspired a vibrant and uplifting visual identity. Abstract shapes derived from the Summit’s acronym “NBCS” were integrated as window-like frames, symbolizing the Summit as a pathway to justice, recognition and empowerment for Black Canadians. The resulting brand identity balanced artistic expression with versatility, ensuring a framework that could evolve with future editions while remaining credible and recognizable across generations.
The refreshed identity was successfully applied across bilingual communication tools, amplifying the event’s visibility and appeal. Early feedback from the Michaëlle Jean Foundation confirmed the brand’s role in strengthening the Summit’s long-term vision and attracting broader participation.
