SŌMA
Integrated Award — Brand Identity, New Brand

Louis Yau Student RGD
Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada

SŌMA is a natural deodorant brand inspired by the people and environment of British Columbia. With nearly seven out of ten adults in the province participating in outdoor activities each year, the goal was to design a product that reflects the lifestyle and values of those who live actively. The deodorant is housed in compostable packaging and finished with a wax seal, used both as a design detail and as a marker of freshness that must be broken upon first use. Each scent is derived from a tree or plant native to BC, paired with short-form copy describing its properties and origins.

The visual identity draws on the natural surroundings of the West Coast, with muted tones taken from rock faces, foggy skies and forest trails. The result is a brand identity that elevates natural personal care through thoughtful design, communicating care for both the body and the environment.
