Winner: Nicole Nguyen Associate RGD

Winning Project: Pixels to Pollutants

School: York University, Toronto, ON; Educator Support: Angela Norwood RGD

Pixels to Pollutants aims to reveal the hidden environmental impact of online activities. It transforms invisible data pollution into a physical form—black spheres representing the Carbon Dioxide produced by ten participants over ten days—and highlights the connection between data storage and environmental harm. It also encourages individuals to reduce their digital carbon footprint and acknowledges the broader systemic issues within the digital ecosystem.
