AGO We’ve Got Art Campaign

Toronto, ON

The AGO was finally re-opening during COVID. The brief? It’s time to get loud about the AGO brand. Working with an existing brand identity that was mainly red, white and black, the team wanted to infuse the brand with more colour, swagger and personality. Bright and hopeful images were needed to celebrate the re-opening. Because most people were socializing outdoors, the colour and refresh of the brand was most prominent in the Gallery’s exteriors. The café offered an outdoor location adjacent to the banners, making the front of the AGO a colourful, inviting place to be. The punchy, bold graphics communicated to visitors and passersby that the Gallery was open and excited to welcome people back through its doors.

“I find the work clean and impactful, made so by the bold graphic elements and treatment. The fresh colours, dynamic use of the typography and whimsical photography bring the work to life in a delightful way. They move away from their regular colour palette to interrupt and keep the work fresh. The clever use of instantly recognizable symbols, such as the eye and heart icons, makes the core message instantly recognizable and creates playful patterns that are memorable and engaging. The work meets the brief well and inspires hope with its bold attitude and personality. The use of banners on the exterior close to the cafe is welcoming and inviting, and the vibrant colours draw the attention of passersby.”
