Out of Office: How stepping away leads to better design and leadership

Victor Yves

About this video

Description

In fast-paced in-house and agency environments, creativity often becomes trapped behind screens, timelines and deliverables. This session explores how intentionally stepping “out of office” — physically, mentally and creatively — can lead to stronger ideas, clearer brand thinking and healthier creative leadership. Drawing from real projects, Victor shares how moments away from the desk — observation, conversation, experimentation and cultural immersion — can unlock breakthroughs that traditional processes often miss. This talk blends practical insights with leadership reflections, offering designers and in-house teams new ways to rethink productivity, collaboration and creative growth.

Victor is a design leader with over 15 years of experience shaping visual culture across global brands. At Publicis Canada, Victor leads multidisciplinary teams building brand systems and campaigns for clients that include VISA, Heineken, Jeep, National Geographic, Uber and WhatsApp. His creative journey began in a small city in Brazil’s Northeast, where early experiences designing websites with his father sparked a lasting curiosity for systems, storytelling and the cultural power of design. That foundation continues to inform his work today, bridging craft, strategy and technology. Victor’s career spans boutique studios and global agencies such as F/Nazca Saatchi & Saatchi, AlmapBBDO, FCB and Accenture Interactive, before joining Publicis Toronto. Across every chapter, his focus has remained consistent: using design not just as decoration, but as direction—helping brands express purpose and cultural relevance.
