This July the RGD thanks Cai Sepulis RGD for her contributions to our community.
Q: How long have you been volunteering with RGD, and in what capacity?
I’ve been volunteering with RGD for the past five years as an RGD Mentor, Creative Directions speaker, a judge for both the RGD Student Awards and the So(cial) Good Design Awards, a Designathon team leader and a webinar presenter.
Q: What made you want to get involved with RGD?
I wanted to get involved not only because I believe in RGD's programs, but also because being part of these discussions exposes me to new ideas, design trends and recent projects that definitely influence my own work and push professional development.
Q: Of the RGD initiatives you have contributed to, what are you most proud of?
I am most proud of being a speaker at the Creative Directions conference on two different occasions. There is something really rewarding in putting yourself out there. Distilling your thoughts and process into a talk is a confidence booster, and helped me realize how far I’ve come as a designer.
Q: What is your most memorable experience as an RGD volunteer?
After the conference talks are over, it could be hours, months or years later, having someone come up to me and mention that they saw my talk and how it helped them in their own design work.
Q: What have you gained from being an RGD volunteer, and why would you recommend it to other members who might be thinking of getting involved?
Through our own unique life experiences, we each have something we can add to the conversation that is worth sharing. The benefit of hearing others’ stories is equally rewarding.
