Remembering the design luminary, Milton Glaser
Milton Glaser, one of the most celebrated graphic designers and the co-founder of New York magazine, passed away at the age of 91 on June 26. James Kuo RGD pens down his thoughts on the legend and his professor at the School of Visual Arts in New York.
As a passionate prospective student determined to pursue my Graphic Design studies, I would spend my summertime exploring the local library, researching this field of study and seeking inspiration from the books and magazines around me.
One summer, I found myself drawn to a particular magazine with the captivating title 'New York.' Little did I know, the New York magazine was co-founded by Mr. Glaser, whom I would call 'Professor' a couple of years later at my dream school.
To this day, I still cannot forget how that magazine, along with his other graphic design work, caught my eye and became a huge inspiration.
Milton Glaser will forever be embedded in the history of Graphic Design. He was one of the creative industry’s most revered, influential and best-loved designers, legends, mentors and educators. I am very grateful to have been mentored by Mr. Glaser.
You will be missed. Thank you for a lifetime of inspiration.
