Job description

The Web and Graphic Designer is responsible for creating and delivering visually engaging designs across print and digital platforms, including dynamic and impactful presentations. The role ensures all materials meet AODA accessibility standards, align with City brand guidelines and adhere to corporate communication policies. This includes designing and managing web content, collaborating on marketing strategies and supporting internal teams with high-quality, inclusive materials. The designer also ensures corporate communication websites maintain high performance, accessibility and quality standards while managing multiple projects effectively.

Job responsibilities

Visual Design and Branding

Created and delivered visually appealing and technically sound web and print designs aligned with the city’s corporate identity and brand guidelines. Ensure all materials meet accessibility standards (AODA, WCAG 2.0 Level AA) and provide guidance on brand application.

Website Content Development

Design and publish accurate, accessible and engaging web content consistent with best practices, branding and accessibility standards. Ensure content provides clear and concise information for users.

Design and Marketing Strategies

Collaborate with clients and stakeholders to create compelling visual designs supporting communication and marketing strategies. Translate client goals into modern, audience-focused designs that align with city branding and accessibility standards.

Project Coordination and Administration

Manage multiple projects using workflow tools to track progress, revisions and design assets. Maintain project records, ensure timely delivery and provide resource tracking to optimize long-term planning.

Website Administration and Quality Assurance

Monitor and maintain corporate websites to ensure optimal performance, accessibility and relevance. Regularly review and resolve issues, track analytics and provide performance reports to support continuous improvement.

Qualifications

You have a post-secondary diploma in Graphic Design with courses in Web Design or equivalent with a minimum of 2-4 years experience in print and digital design, advertising, and marketing. Registered Graphic Designers designation is an asset. Knowledge of Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA), Corporate website Content Management Systems (CMS), corporate-specific search engine and web performance applications, and Google Analytics are considered assets. You have three to five years of proficient experience with Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign. Attention to accuracy and detail, strong interpersonal communication skills, and the ability to work effectively independently in a collaborative virtual team environment are required.

Salary range

$82,481.00 - $103,102.00
