We’re seeking a Senior Motion Graphics and Animation Designer to join our growing team at Context Creative for a 1-year parental leave replacement, possibly transitioning to a full-time role. This creative role will work as a member of our multi-disciplinary teams in the conceptualization and execution of client work. The ideal candidate has 6 – 8 years of experience and is a versatile designer with strong graphics, animation and graphic design skills who can bring fresh, engaging visuals to life across multiple digital platforms. They are curious, unintimidated by challenges, roll with the punches, work quickly and effectively, and collaborate easily.
Job description
As a Senior Motion Graphics and Animation Designer, you will:
- Create visually engaging motion graphics and animations for various digital media platforms
- Conceptualize, storyboard, and execute visuals that meet client objectives and align with brand
identity - Design and produce high-quality motion graphics, animations, and illustrations for digital ads,
social media, website content, and more - Apply your versatile design skills to both motion-centric and static design projects
- Work closely with creative teams and clients throughout the production process
- Manage production schedules and logistics in collaboration with project managers
- Mentor junior designers and contribute to the growth of the design team
Key qualifications
The ideal candidate must have:
- 6-8 years of experience in motion graphics, animation, and graphic design, preferably in an
agency environment - Post-secondary education in motion graphics, animation, or a related design field
- Exceptional expertise in motion graphics, 2D/3D animation, and illustration
- Strong skills in static graphic design, including layout, typography, and branding
- Proficiency in industry-standard software, including:
- Adobe Creative Suite (After Effects, Premiere Pro, Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign)
- Figma
- Cinema 4D (bonus)
- Strong understanding of animation principles and static design fundamentals
- Experience with UI/UX design for both animated and static digital interfaces
- Excellent visual storytelling, verbal, and written communication skills
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Ability to work efficiently, integrate feedback, and juggle multiple projects
Technical skills
- Expertise in 2D animation techniques
- Knowledge of camera and object tracking
- Understanding of relevant plugins such as Overlord, AEUX, Bodymovin and Duik.
- Ability to create responsive designs for various digital platforms
- Experience with print production processes and requirements
Versatility in design
- The ideal candidate will demonstrate:
- Proficiency in layout and design for both traditional and digital media
- Ability to apply a mobile-first approach to digital design
- Skills in creating static designs such as print materials, infographics, and brand assets
- Adaptability to switch between motion and static design projects seamlessly

Salary range
$75,000 – $90,000
