The Faculty of Creative Industries prepares the creative professionals of tomorrow. The three-year Advanced Diploma in Graphic Design is one of the largest programs in the School of Design and in the Faculty of Creative Industries (FOCI).

A full-time Professor at Fanshawe College leads academic curriculum and creates an effective learning environment for students, within many teams. The successful candidate will teach courses in the Graphic Design Program in the School of Design and may occasionally teach in other Design or FOCI programs.

General qualifications

  • Strong computer skills and familiarity with various technologies
  • Related industry work experience
  • Previous post-secondary teaching experience (hybrid and/or online delivery) and knowledge of curriculum design and student evaluations are assets

Specific qualifications

  • Post-secondary three-year Advanced Diploma in Graphic Design or a related discipline required
  • Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design or Design preferred
  • Minimum 5 years’ post-secondary teaching experience, or OCT Communication Arts teaching experience
  • Minimum 7 years’ experience in the graphic design industry
  • An equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be considered; preference will be given to applicants meeting the education requirements
  • Experience in art direction, professional Illustration, and corporate branding
  • A strong portfolio showing a range of creative work
  • Knowledge of pre-press production and workflow
  • Strong sense of design theory and typography
  • Client management skills including costing, quoting and job timeline management an asset
  • Expertise in Adobe Creative Cloud

Approximate Start Date: August 12, 2024

Salary: Determination of starting salaries is based on relevant teaching/occupational experience and relevant formal qualifications, supported with original transcripts from granting institutions. The salary scale is $73,079 to $126,689 along with a comprehensive benefit package.

Partial load or full-time academic staff presently employed with the College will be given first consideration in accordance with the Academic Collective Agreement.

While transcripts are not required for the interview, they are mandatory prior to any offer of employment.
