Project Description

Strategic plans in higher education tend to be perceived as abstract and administrative, so the goal with “Re-envisioning Arts, the University of British Columbia, Faculty of Arts Strategic Plan 2025-2030” was to make it clear and relatable. With its mix of humanities, social sciences and creative and performing arts, UBC Arts is uniquely positioned in the higher education landscape and the design needed to reflect that.

The new plan uses an editorial look and feel, leveraging a strong grid system, photography sourced from academic units and spot illustrations. The final text for the plan was long, so it was rearranged to move some of the supplementary information to the end, allowing the framework, goals and actions to come to the front. The final plan has been downloaded over 650 times since it launched in September 2025, and the webpage from student-focused campaign emails has also received over 650 clicks, which is high compared to engagement with similar content for this audience.
