MJMA Architecture & Design Studio Signage

MJMA Architecture & Design

Toronto, ON

MJMA Architecture & Design is an interdisciplinary studio creating civic spaces that support wellness, inclusion and community life. MJMA recently relocated to a single-floor brick-and-beam factory building and, within a modest renovation budget, delivered an in-house graphics program including brand identity, signage and wayfinding, interpretive panels and an interactive presentation wall. Materials are intentionally quiet, forming a neutral backdrop that highlights the warmth and texture of the historic timber and brick.

Using aluminum, steel and wood as an interpretation of the former factory’s details, the signage system is organized around the existing column-bay grid. New wooden elements were added to harmonize with the original timber, and black aluminum signage uses laser-cut numbers and pictograms to reveal the existing columns. The program also includes channel letters logo, the mission statement, a presentation wall for project prototypes and mock-ups and an interpretive panel detailing the building’s history, integrating its storied past into the daily life of the new studio space.
