miss oriento: Authentic Yellow Flavors is a satirical branding project that critiques the hypersexualization and commodification of Asian women in Western media. Developed as a fictional food brand, the project set out to expose how Orientalist stereotypes are packaged, aestheticized, and sold through commercial design. Through art posters, packaging, storytelling, and a polished visual identity, the project used satire to mimic the language of advertising while revealing the harmful logic beneath it.

Playful yet unsettling design choices, including exaggerated food metaphors and stylized promotional elements, created a commercially believable system that invited both attraction and discomfort. This contrast helped communicate the tension between surface-level appeal and deeper cultural violence. The project generated strong emotional responses, where Asian women and others with experiences of objectification shared that the work made them feel seen and understood. These reactions affirmed its success as both a cohesive design system and a critical, conversation-generating experience.
